Curcuma longa

In addition to the taste of Curcuma root, the color of the plant is extremely beautiful and blooms in a bright pink-purple color.
The roots has bright orange color and even a little amount turns every dish yellow.
Well known in Indian cuisine, the spice is generously used to flavor rice and cereals, eggs, curry and other dishes.
Turmeric is considered to be native to Southeast Asia, but is also grown in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Sri Lanka, the Caribbean and others.
The plant loves water, so keep the soil moist but not too wet. Needs lot of sunshine and in summertime it can be taken outside. It is important for the soil to be well drained and the temperature have to be between 20-24 in the summertime and should not fall over 10 degrees in the winter season.
The plant is suitable for thanksgiving or an apology, hospital or a newborn, birthday or name day.
